I keep finding it hard to believe just how much time passes between my entries. It’s been a month… A MONTH since I last posted anything here! I’m not sure where the time goes.
From March until the first week of November, I’d been swept up in the frenzy known as campaigning. When you join a campaign full-time, you really don’t have much of a life outside of it. All your social interactions tend to be with fellow staffers, volunteers, and those who attend the events you campaign at. However since the end of the campaign, I’m just not sure where my time has gone. I suppose a lot of it has gone to catching up with friends, starting and finishing some books that had begun stacking up on my nightstand the last few months and just catching my breath.
The campaign was an experience that I will treasure forever. I’m just not sure I’d do it again. Though, now that I type that, there are a lot of things I miss. One of those things that I won’t miss however, the lack of rest. As if working a campaign full-time wasn’t enough… keeping my “real” job at the newspaper was a killer.
One thing that I’ve truly missed this year has been writing. I started occasionally writing in a private journal a little over a month ago, something I hadn’t really done since High School. It was something I felt encouraged to do after reading John Eldridge’s Wild at Heart. It also didn’t hurt that several good friends, all around the same time began reading some of their writings to me. When you’re lacking the creative juices — or in my case, the time — the easiest way to recapture inspiration is to surround yourself by others creativity. Now, I have the time, so I’m going to try and give this blogging thing another try.
